Patient comfort is one of the most important aspects of care. We go to great lengths to minimize any discomfort, anxiety, or fear you may have about visiting the dentist for your periodontal treatment.
We offer the latest techniques in sedation options for our patients with the end goal of creating the most comfortable experience possible.
Intravenous sedation is used for patients with moderate to severe anxiety. IV sedation allows our patients to rest peacefully during treatment and remain unaware of the treatment while it happens. IV sedation includes a mix of pharmaceuticals that are delivered intravenously to relax and block pain for our patients. This option is recommended for patients who are undergoing a more involved procedure like dental implants or surgical cleaning.
Dr. Brown takes IV sedation very seriously and cares about your safety. Dr. Brown went through rigorous training to get his IV sedation license and he is regularly inspected by the Florida Board of Dentistry.
Nitrous Oxide is a very common inhalation agent used in dental practices. The gas helps patients relax while they remain conscious and able to respond to stimuli. Nitrous Oxide is a great option for patients who experience anxiety during dental procedures and need to “take the edge off” without wanting oral or IV sedation. Following the procedure, pure oxygen is given for 10 minutes and the patient is able to return to their daily routine unaffected.
Oral sedation includes the ingestion of an oral sedative. Patients with an aversion to needles are great candidates for oral sedation. Depending on your medical condition and history Dr. Brown can decide which oral sedative will work best for you.
